Well we're 6 months along. Mostly. Nothing really new has happened except that I now really do look pregnant. Last week my brother pointed to my stomach and said "Whoa!" Yes. Thank you Paul. I think Eric likes it though.
I read in a book that men are proud when they're wives are pregnant. I asked Eric if that was true and he confirmed that he is proud of it. I think it makes them feel more manly that they can reproduce. At any rate, I'm happy that I don't just look chubby.
We had an appointment yesterday and found out that I have to go to the hospital in the next month to get my Rogam shot and my glucose tested. I'm not really looking forward to that but it would be nice to know were the Timp Regional Hospital is since that's where we are delivering.
I also found out that I gained like 10 pounds in the last month. I'm still where I should be but I'm going to have to be more careful going forward. I don't want to have to lose 60 pounds!
So someone gave me a piece of advice last month. She told me to pick up diapers any time I go to the grocery store and stock up. I thought this was a good idea since I read that newborns go through 10-15 diapers a day (something Eric didn't believe and asked some lady at the store who confirmed it). So at the grocery store last night we decided we would take a look at the baby isle. We were both pretty floored that diapers are so expensive! It's $10 for 50 diapers so that will last about 4 days! We bought a package and we'll continue to do that every time we go to the store for the next... what 8 years? sigh.
Here's a question for you mothers. How many packs of diapers should we buy of size 1 before the baby grows out of them and we need size 2?

Ok, 10 diapers a day, MAYBE! I don't change ALL of the pee pee ones. Buy a few (3-4) packs of newborn size for the first few weeks and she'll be in size ones for another month at least. (You can always exchange sizes, and you'll need diapers for the next two years, so just stock up)2 packs a week is going to be PLENTY, probably not even that many (between 1 and 1 1/2 if memory serves.) Luvs are the most affordable for absorbency. (Huggies leak too much, and Pampers, my real fave, are too pricey. I'd stick with Luvs for the first year and then I switch to Walmart brand when they don't wet so much while they're sleeping, and they work fine. "But you don't have to take my word for it"...name THAT quote!
Ya, I love when you actually look pregnant so people don't think you're just getting chubby. By the way, I gained about 66 pounds with Addie. I lost it all pretty fast. If you nurse it helps a ton. Plus, a lot of it was water. So if you retain a lot of water, it weighs a lot, but it leaves quickly. So don't worry, you'll be just fine no matter how much you gain.
I agree that huggies leak too much. They're my least favorite. I love kirkland costco brand. Walmart and Target also work real well and are pretty cheap. I don't think I used more than two packs a week and the older she gets the less you'll use.
Oh, curse the diaper industry. I'm just glad I've never had 2 kids in diapers at the same time. :O) As far as how much to buy in size 1? It will all totally depend on your baby. Hollie wore newborn diapers for 4 months & size 1 for at least another 6 months after that. I think we had a 3 month supply of diapers before she was born & that seemed to be about right. It's also definitely cheaper to buy them at Costco or Sams Club. You'll save a ton!
You need to post some pictures Katie!
Just save your receipts and you can exchange them if the baby grows out of them before you can use them up! And the store brands work just as well if not better than the name brands. The only brand I will use with Oliver is the Costco brand, and I used the Walmart brand when Grace was in diapers.
