Away Games

This was 3 months ago. But at least I'm doing it!
Eric and I flew to San Diego for our honeymoon! Thanks to Aunt Shawna, we were able to fly out to San Diego and have the nicest rental car for more than an affordable price. Well, more than affordable for others, just affordable of us. :) Thankfully, Eric's parents let us take the GPS system so we were able to find our way around. The roads in California scare the daylights out of me. I got on Eric's nerves quite a bit by sideseat driving. He asked if I wanted to drive so I shut up after that but I was still very tense every time we were on one of the billion freeways/exit ramps/on ramps/side streets/ect.

Anyway, we were pretty proud of ourselves for navigating the airport, the roads and booking the hotel all by ourselves. That is something you take for granted that your parents take care of. Our hotel was pretty nice, except that we booked a room with a king bed and got 2 double beds. We used one bed for our luggage and snuggled on the other. Part of the reason we chose this hotel was the pool and (go figure) we never used it, but all in all we were happy with our choice.

We actually made it back to the hotel pretty early every night and we were usually out of the hotel by 8 in the morning. We liked to go get breakfast and Denny's ended up being our favourite place. The weather was perfect all week and we didn't get in a car wreck so I was thankful for that. I think sports center was almost constantly on the whole time we were in our room. I got pretty sick of hearing about Bret Farve going to the Jets but it was a good indication of what was to come with regards to the TV in our home. Oh well, I guess it's better than trashy shows.

As for our activities, we bought Gocards. The cards got us into all kinds of places and came with a book that told us about other cool things to see. We went to the San Diego Zoo, LegoLand, Knottsberry Farm's water park, Old Town and to a small amuesment park right on a boardwalk next to the ocean. We also went to Corona Island and played at the ocean, to see the Dark night, and to Dave and Busters.

I will now give you a small review of the above attractions.

The San Diego Zoo was huge! The best part was watching the Polar Bears play with toys in the water. We went underground and could see into the pool through glass. (Did that make sense?) I didn't see any penguins though and I thought that was kind of weird. The monkeys were pretty fun too. We took a bus tour to see most of it and were done about halfway through the day.

LegoLand would have been really fun if we had children under the age of 10. The best part was watching the toddlers in the water play area. Otherwise, it's not for adults.

Seven Peaks is way better than Knottsberry Farms water park except for one ride. You come down a slide into a giant funnel and go up and down and it's pretty high. I bet you could see it online.

Old Town was fun for shopping and just wandering. I've heard the mexican food there is the best ever but Eric preffered to eat Jack In the Box's meat sandwhiches the whole trip.

The amusment park was awesome! You go up on the wooden roller coaster and you see the whole ocean! We then got giant ice cream cones and people watched. We saw a real beach bum too! He had to have been in his late 20's and was carrying a boombox on his shoulder with his pack. I wish we had gotten a picture.

Playing in the ocean was Eric's favourite even though he carried me most of the time because the seaweed touching my legs really grossed me out. Seriously, you can't see the bottom and then you get slimed and tangled in it. UGH. I had a really good time too though. It was fun to try to body surf. Mostly we just ate a lot of seawater but it was funny.

Dave and Busters is like an adult Chucky Cheese. We got dinner for a really good price and got a lot of credits to play arcade games! There are little tables everywhere for people to put there beer down. That was different. It was really fun to play games with Eric. I beat him at every racing game including the motorcylce one. Eric didn't seem to like that but he beat me at everything else so I think its fair.
The last day I got a UTI and that SUCKED. Basically, there was nothing we could do till we got back to Utah. The day we flew home we wanted to have the rental car back early just incase and ended up sitting the in the airport from 10 to 6. I had to go to the bathroom about a thousand times but thankfully I had Breaking Dawn to read. There were 2 little sparrows that lived in the airport and they are really fun to watch so that was a plus. Eric didn't have a very good time with his new grumpy and sick wife that day but he made it through unscathed.
Unfortunately, we didn't take very many pictures at all but I'll include some that we did manage to get the camera out for.

This is on the bus tour of the Zoo. The baby pandas were freakin adorable.

This is at the amusement park and Eric is sporting his new Old Town T-shirt.
Big ice cream cones! I got cookie dough, I can't remember what Eric got but he didn't really like it I recall...

This is the best picture we took of the ocean and that's our rental car.

Seriously, a double bed for your honeymoon?! The hotel clerk would have had an earful from me!
Looks like it was fun.
I miss the summer already!
